For many of us, today is the last day of school with the kids. I hope you all have a wonderful, restful summer break!!!

Pat yourselves on the back (I am!) and know that you did the best that you could do this year!!!! I am SO PROUD of myself....Lord knows it has been a very trying year, and I did everything in my power to help my students achieve success. I think they did pretty well! We just got state results back in for our STAAR tests and my kids did an amazing job. I knew they could do it!!!!

I love being a teacher. I couldn't imagine doing anything else with my life.

Happy Summer!

And be sure to check out this week's OHP sponsor, Courtney!!!!!!! Just look at all the amazingness she made from Pinterest!!! I'm so impressed! Courtney, you can come to my house any time to make these Pinterest inspired dishes!!!!

I am Courtney and I have a little blog called 'Tales of Lace & Glitter' I am just beyond thrilled to be taking part in the Vintage Apple's Oh How Pinteresting Wednesday!

I had a small cocktail party about a month ago- Nothing too big or fancy...Just a few friends over to the house. I had been drooling over several recipes on Pinterest so I decided to make all bite size appetizers and got ALL my recipes from Pinterest. The Ladies at the party couldn't believe I'd tried so many new recipes AND that they ALL tasted delicious...Inbetween bites all the guys at the party asked "What's Pinterest?"

Here's what I made-

Mac & Cheese Bites: Hardest part about these was cleaning the mini cupcake pan!

Taco Cups: I'm now a huge fan of using Won Ton Wrappers for appetizers. Makes all the food easy to pick-up and eat.
This took a bit of preparation & timing bc you had to brown your meat before hand. You could probably do it veggie with just beans and save time. They were delicious! Everyone kept eating them

Turkey Corn Dog Bites: Originally recipe called for Beef Hot Dogs but since R doesn't eat mammals (yea, you read that right...) I opted for Turkey. Also, I added a semi-homemade touch and bought Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix.

Oreo & Chocolate Chip Cookies: This is MY picture of the actual cookies I made! I was inspired by a Pin I'd seen on Pinterest but added a semi-homemade touch of using pre-made cookie dough. I should warn you that I could only fit 8 on a cookie sheet because they did spread a lil more then an average cookie when baked. Everyone was nervous to try these because they were afraid they'd like them too much.

Sweet Bacon & Pear Pizza: I had to make this with Turkey Bacon again because R doesn't eat mammals but it still tasted great!

Fresh Mozzeralla & Tomato: I made these but used a Spinach leaf instead of a basil leaf because the thought of eating a WHOLE basil leaf made me gag a little. Also, I used a balsamic glaze instead of straight vinegar so it had a sweet and tangy taste. You can buy Balsamic glaze in any grocery store. Save yourself the time and buy it instead of trying to make it.

Moral of this story is don't be afraid to ACTUALLY try out recipes from Pinterest.

If you like these recipes and want to see more of my favorites check out my boards on Pinterest!

You can also follow me on Twitter to see what I'm up to!

Thanks again to Michelle for letting me be apart of such a fun blog event!

Be sure to check out Tales of Lace & Glitter!!

What a Glorious Number

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

Four. It's such a glorious number.

Why, you ask?

Sorry, I really felt the need to use shouty capitals there. It has been one LONG, STRENUOUS, DIFFICULT, CHALLENGING, and REWARDING school year.

I have made the decision to not work summer school and just take a long break. I have a few trainings to go to that are mandatory, but other than that, I don't have much else going on work-wise.

I am planning on creating and putting together baby Apple's nursery over the summer...

Speaking of which....should I call the baby "Baby Apple"?? I just can't seem to think of anything catchy or cute.

Also, here is an update since we last spoke.....

I have officially lost weight since my first doctor's appointment... like 5 pounds. The doc assured me though that this is completely normal since my appetite isn't all what it should be yet, but he says I'll get better in just a few short weeks. I hope so....I've got my eye on a pint of Blue Bell ice cream in my freezer that is just calling my name.

How far along? 9 Weeks! Baby is the size of a precious little grape!

Maternity clothes? none! Lost weight, so I'm still fitting in my normal clothes.
Stretch marks? Nope. I really need to start applying some lotion to my belly now though.

Sleep: Sleeping super soundly...except when my bladder wakes me up. I'm getting up 1-3 times a night to use the restroom.

Best moment this week:  Not throwing up
Miss Anything? COKES and coffee
Movement: Too early! None yet!
Food cravings: Absolutely NOTHING. All food sounds terrible. Except saltines.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Yes. The smell of toasted bread.
Gender: Not sure yet!
Labor Signs: None.
Symptoms: Nausea and headaches
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Mood: Happy
Looking forward to: eating again!!!

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Inside My Head

Friday, May 25, 2012

My random thoughts for the day:

1. I was sitting in class yesterday pondering what life was going to be like for these 8th graders that I teach. What will they grow up to be? What will they do with their lives? More importantly, will they stay safe?

Most of my students have very bright futures ahead of them. There are a few that I worry about. Will there be someone there in time to help them? I won't be here for them. Who is going to take care of them?

I just hope that everything that I taught them this year and everything that the people in their lives taught them  is enough for them to survive....not just survive. THRIVE.

2. I have a family member that is struggling with some has really taken a toll on this person and on our family. We are coming together though to make sure this person overcomes the obstacles that stand in her way and make sure she knows that she has a family that cares about her and loves her deeply. The Lord hears my prayers about this on a daily basis. I know she will overcome the obstacles in her way. Love is powerful like that.

3. No matter what, embrace what is in front of you. You never know how many more chances you are going to get. We only get one it. Love. Love so much it hurts.

4. To my unborn child- I love you more than anyone could possibly love anyone or anything. In this short amount of time, my heart has grown shown me so many things that I have never experienced before. My priorities are SO DIFFERENT. I never would have imagined things to change so quickly for me...but they have. I am going to embrace the love in my life and let go of things I can not help or change. It is for the health and happiness of me, my husband, and our unborn child.

5. And lastly, please refer to the picture below. It is powerful and stands for so many things.

I don't know who invented the term "morning sickness" but they are full of crapola.

I don't have morning sickness.

I have "morning/noon/night/every 15 minutes/every time I turn around" sickness.

At first, I considered myself very lucky. I thought I was going to get away with not having any nausea/queasiness, but I spoke too soon.

About two weeks ago, I got the nausea/queasiness, and I considered myself lucky because I wasn't puking.

Last night.... I started puking.

TMI? Maybe. But I've never held out on y'all before, and if I am's honest.

I am trying out all sorts of things to make me feel better.

1. Canada Dry Ginger Ale

I don't think this is working very well, but the carbonation feels good in my stomach. I try to take small sips but the queasiness just won't subside.

2. Preggie Pops

These little delicious treats are not working either. But, they taste good so I'll keep eating them.

3. Saltines

Right now, these little crackers are about the only things I can keep down gracefully. Let's not discuss how I think they taste like cardboard. Saltines have never been my favorite, but I'm dealing.

4. Yoplait Light Harvest Peach

I love this stuff. I could eat it in bulk (when I'm feeling normal)! As of now, I can eat about half of it without my stomach getting upset, but at least I am getting something down!

Even though I am feeling sicky every now and then, I am SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO happy to know that there is a special reason I am feeling so bad.....and I can't wait till Christmas!!!!!

I go to the doctor today and maybe he'll have some miracle cure for my queasiness. We shall see! I'll keep you updated!!!!

Hope you guys have a fantastic Thursday!

Happy Monday!!!!

Thank you all so much for the sweet words about our pregnancy. We are elated and just living in a dream it seems!!!

I really want to keep everyone posted on baby's progress and things like that, I'm just not sure how to do it quite yet! I don't want to turn into a full-fledged mommy blogger, but you never know! LOL!

I just read that the baby is the size of a Kidney Bean.

Sometimes these comparisons to fruits/veggies is funny but kinda cool having a real life perspective on the size of the tiny person growing inside. So surreal.

I feel so much relief knowing the "cat's outta the bag" so to speak, and happy that everyone knows!!! The amount of sweetness through your blog posts and twitter comments is nothing short of amazing and wonderful. Thank you all so much.

I have already been given the BEST advice on twitter about nausea (thank you everyone) and where to find something called a "Pregnancy Pop".  I don't know what this pop is, but I can't wait to try it!

It was really wonderful sharing all things wedding with you guys last year, and now I get to share all things baby. I am so LUCKY and BLESSED to have such a supportive and loving group of readers like you to share everything with! It warms my heart!!!!

So, thank you again!!!!!
