Liars.

I don't know who invented the term "morning sickness" but they are full of crapola.

I don't have morning sickness.

I have "morning/noon/night/every 15 minutes/every time I turn around" sickness.

At first, I considered myself very lucky. I thought I was going to get away with not having any nausea/queasiness, but I spoke too soon.

About two weeks ago, I got the nausea/queasiness, and I considered myself lucky because I wasn't puking.

Last night.... I started puking.

TMI? Maybe. But I've never held out on y'all before, and if I am anything...it's honest.

:)

I am trying out all sorts of things to make me feel better.

1. Canada Dry Ginger Ale

I don't think this is working very well, but the carbonation feels good in my stomach. I try to take small sips but the queasiness just won't subside.

2. Preggie Pops

These little delicious treats are not working either. But, they taste good so I'll keep eating them.

3. Saltines

Right now, these little crackers are about the only things I can keep down gracefully. Let's not discuss how I think they taste like cardboard. Saltines have never been my favorite, but I'm dealing.

4. Yoplait Light Harvest Peach

I love this stuff. I could eat it in bulk (when I'm feeling normal)! As of now, I can eat about half of it without my stomach getting upset, but at least I am getting something down!

Even though I am feeling sicky every now and then, I am SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO happy to know that there is a special reason I am feeling so bad.....and I can't wait till Christmas!!!!!

I go to the doctor today and maybe he'll have some miracle cure for my queasiness. We shall see! I'll keep you updated!!!!

Hope you guys have a fantastic Thursday!

Saltine crackers and time away from teenagers and all their smelly products was about the only thing that saved me. I got sick all. the. time too! I do hope that yours will let up soon!!

Oh man, I remember that feeling. It was only at night too so night sickness?! Anyway, I found that I wasn't eating enough and therefor was feeling ill. Make sure you snack often and drink a ton. Also, prenatal vitamins will guarantee puking if you don't eat.

I haven't congratulated you yet - so let's start with a big fat (no pun intended!) CONGRATS!!! I'm so happy for you!

Sorry you're feeling sick, but you're right, it IS for a good reason! I hope it goes away soon and that the rest of your pregnancy is a breeze!

Oh girl- I am so, so sorry! I went through the same thing and it lasted all the way until I was 21 weeks! It was miserable but oh so worth it! I honestly never found much of anything that helped but I just read an article today saying that hot lemon water first thing in the morning can help with morning sickness and nausea in general. I hope you find some relief soon!

At least summer is close. Bet you feel better once you get away from your students. (If not, then at least you can lounge around in pajama pants and eat whatever, whenever you feel up to it.)

oh dear, i remember those days! you are doing all the right things. by week 16 i felt like a new woman...and it seemed to take forever to get there! it will pass (though you sort of trade that for other things) it is all SO SO worth it, like you said. Also, if you haven't heard of it there is a book called "the girlfriends guide to pregnancy" it is sooo witty and funny. i got a serious kick out of it, learned a lot, and it helped me through those early days! hang in there lady! so excited for you :)

Sorry :( Unfortunately, there is not a "miracle cure", although lots of people will give you advice and say whatever worked for them should work for you! Just try to eat whatever you can when you feel like it! It sucks, but it WILL get better!! I promise!

Yuck!!! I too remember those days, I thought I would never make it through. But around 20 weeks the fog lifted and I felt like a new woman!! It WILL get better!

Poor mama I've always wondered of there are ways to get around the sickness bc I absolutely hate throwing up food! Excuse me?.... Waste my food?! Lol. In all seriousness the bright side is it won't last forever and the reward is far greater than suffering. You got this!!

Meghan @ Shine On said...

You poor thing! I am no help & have zero advice since I'm not even close to being a mother, but I hope it all gets better for you! xox!

Keep Shining,

Go buy Sea-Bands!!!! I'm dead serious!! I get car sick, and I also have vertigo, so I know what it's like to be constantly queasy, and these things ROCK!!!! They're by the motion sickness stuff in the drug store, but they're little sweatbands with nobs that press into pressure points on your wrists. They're about $15 but they're SO worth it!!! My sister used them a ton while she was pregnant and they definitely helped!

You poor thing... man I hope you get to feeling better. Unfortunately, (but fortunately right now) I have no advice to give you since I haven't been in your shoes... but I'm sure one of your followers will have some miracle cure because of the tons of "been there, done that" mom bloggers out there!

oooooo michelle :( poor thing! sadly idk what could help since ive never been in the situation but i know slatines always helped me when i feel nauseous! xoxoxo

Bless your heart!

When my sister was pregnant the only thing that would take away her sick feeling was to suck on lemons! And a regular cold coke would sometimes help her!

Hope you get to feeling better!

Maybe you are having twins!! I was so much sicker this pregnancy and it turns it its because there are two!

Hi! First Congrats! I am a follower from Pinteresting Wednesdays. As someone else mentioned there is no miracle cure. But suggestions of things that helped other people might could possibly help you to. So for what it's worth I'll offer my two cents. Anything really cold was wonderful! I loved blue raseberry icees when I was prego. I stopped by the Circle K at least every other morning. Something about it being really cold really felt good to my throat and tummy. Another thing that helped was sour things. My dr. said that for a lot of people the morning sickness happens because your body is producing excessive saliva (i know yuck, right). So really sour things help dry out your mouth, thus making your tummy feel a little better. I loved lemon drops, sour jolly ranchers, etc. Maybe just maybe it could help you too. Best wishes and I hope the morning/noon/night sickness ends soon for you!

I hope you feel better ASAP! If you ever want ice cream or any other food items, I'll be happy to bring them by to you, darlin!

Amanda said...

Yikes! Feel better! I'm glad you're being honest with us! I have a feeling that I'll be that way too (my mom was really sick when she was preggo with me and then my sister). Hopefully it subsides soon!

Oh nooo.. nausea is NO FUN! I know my sister kept little ziplock baggies of Cheese-It's with her at ALL times. & anytime she felt a nausea wave coming on, she would eat a handful and it would go away. Maybe something to try! :) Hope you start feeling better soon!!

So sorry to hear that you're not feeling great! I hope the doc helps you out today!!!

Sara said...

I agree 100% that it's not just morning sickness!! I had it all day,but when I was twelve weeks it went away. Hope that's how it works for you! Crackers became almost gross, but I had to eat them or I felt REALLY bad! I think yogurt is the VERY best thing to eat. And eating even when you feel yucky is the way to go...it eventually makes you feel better!! SO happy for ya!! All of the bad parts will pass.

Rachel Hipps said...

hope you feel better soon! what a sweet little Christmas present! :)

My Dr prescribed me these little pills that dissolved on my tongue to help with the nausea. I ended up filling the prescription and never using them just because I started to get better right after I got them! Lame! But there are options! Ask for those pills!!

Congrats on everything, and I hope the sickness subsides soon!

I've never been pregnant, but I saw this on Etsy and you might try them: http://www.etsy.com/listing/62431248/the-first-trimester

All day sickness is the worst. I found cold grapes were the only thing that settled my stomach. Hope it passes soon

Laurin said...

Oh no. I'm with you though, the people who coined the term morning sickness are liars. Or men.
I was sick all day, up to 24 weeks (I'm currently 37 weeks.) I took zofran during the day and phenergan at night and they do help. Ginger tea and ginger capsules helped a little too, but not ginger ale, the sugar bothered my tummy. What works one day may not work the next. Best of luck to you, momma!

Jesica said...

I didn't have morning sickness but learned a few things from friends, the first is PROTEIN should be what you snack on to keep the queasiness at bay, supposed to help way more than saltines or anything else. And SLEEP, go to bed early and sleep as long as you possibly can and NAP! The girls I knew with HORRIBLE ms said sleep helped the most, on days they slept poorly they felt miserable, days they had a good night sleep and a nap much better! Just some more things to try!

Erin said...

Welcome to motherhood, you now know the secret....no one ever REALLY warns you about anything that REALLY happens haha. Best tip I had was munch on a couple crackers before your feet hit the floor in the morning. Also Zofran, it's medication your Doc can give you it helps some mamas and doesn't others but it's worth trying! Other than that like you said at least it's a great reason to be sick!

JulieBug said...

Every woman (and pregnancy) is definitely different. I hope your "morning" sickness goes away soon. I hate seeing you feeling sick but LOVE the reason! :)

I hope you start feeling better! But what an awesome reason for feeling like shit!

Poor Momma! I have a friend due in August and she had the same thing last the entire first trimester. Her doctor ended up prescribing her a drug that helped a bit. Good luck!

Amber said...

I didn't read anything from the other commenters, but I asked my mom's advice and she said the nausea/puking/queasiness should subside after 6 weeks. And also,to make sure you're taking prenatal vitamins. I hope you feel better soon! :)

A guy definitely came up with the name 'morning sickness'! Saltines and sprite is where it's at.

My aunt was like this every day for the first few months. Once she hit month four though it completely went away. The doctor was able to give her something though. Good luck!

Oh man! I'm sorry. I know how rough it is. The only thing that made me feel better was popsicles. I lived on them! And strangely, exercise made it go away (temporarily).

Hard candy and peppermints help too! I was in the vet this week and the smell was so bad I packed up my cat and was just going to leave. The vet walked in and asked if I was in a hurry to which I had to tell him that I was pregnant and the smell was making me sick. They told me to go sit in my car with the air on and they did everything and then brought the cat to me. Early pregnancy is no fun!

Hope your "morning" sickness is getting a little better!

Fortunately, I was lucky and didn't have it too bad, but I'm afraid that means I'm doomed when we decide to have our next kiddo!

I did a combination of Ginger Ale and Saltines (like, drank the Ginger Ale while eating the Saltines) and that usually seemed to make me feel better!

Hope you've found something that works! I hear good things about the Preggie Pops!
